Why AsturVet?
I decided to chronicle my adventures as a student at Ross University, and hopefully beyond, to engrain a deeper understanding of what it means to be a future veterinarian, share my experiences in the animal community, and hopefully dole out advice for future students that can learn from my experiences and my mistakes.
Astur: as in Asturias, where my mother is from. I have fond memories of my family in Spain, and across Europe. It defined my childhood experiences with farmers and farm animals and probably defined why and how I want to work with the farming community and work for their needs.
And Spain having magnificent Andalusian horses (Portugal not far away with their Lusitanos), I was brought up riding on the backs of these horses and their excellent, patient temperaments. Is it any wonder I would love to work exclusively with these horses, too? However, Asturias is also known for their excellent jumpers, so I was brought up on healthy doses CSI*** Rolex competitions being close to my grandparent's home. Thanks Dad, for driving me to every Rolex competition I have ever been to.
And the world is small, so why not be an international vet?
